On February 6, 1971 Alan Shepard grew the first and exclusively person to ever golf on the moon. To pull off the achievement, Shepard expended a qualified six cast-iron with the squad president appended to the hold of a’ event sample return device’.

Shepard duffed the first clod, but estimates his second shot crossed more than 200 yards. You can watch the historic moment in the embedded video below.

After returning to Earth Shepard gifted the organization to the USGA Museum in 1974. A replica can also is available at the Smithsonian in Washington , D.C.

On May 5, 1961 Shepard became the second largest person to ever travel into space and the first American to achieve the feat. He was bested by 23 daytimes by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

Shepard would go on to become Commander of the Apollo 14 mission where he became the 5th person to ever adjusted hoof on the lunar surface and of course the first and simply person to play golf on the Moon. Shepard, together with astronaut Edgar Mitchell, invested a total of 33.5 hours on the Moon.
